Cane furniture is ideally suited for use in conservatories due to the wide variance in seasonal temperatures.  Every conservatory owner has at some time experienced excessive heat in the summer and low temperatures in the winter, cane furniture is ideal for these extremes as glues and soft timbers are not used in its construction.  Cane, rattan and wicker furniture are basically made from the same product. Cane furniture is manufactured from the larger sections of a fast growing vine from South East Asia, which is formed into the required permanent shape.  Rattan is the slimmer version which is often made into more intricate shapes and designs, whilst wicker tends to describe the style of weave.  So technically all three cane, rattan and wicker can be described as cane furniture.  Please do not confuse cane furniture with bamboo.  Bamboo is a hollow brittle product suitable for supporting plants in the garden whereas cane and rattan are solid and flexible.
